WW2 service records are still held by the Ministry of Defence and have to be applied and paid for,
https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/apply-for-someone-elses-records
However, the Guards regiments kept their own records. The application process and cost is similar and if you have his full name, birth date and death cert, the Coldstream (one word) Guards archivist will surely be able to find his record more quickly that an application to Glasgow.
