Seeing Gottfried was in England as at 1911 showing as "married" but living apart from Elizabeth  I cannot find if or when he returned home to his homeland, story was " he was taken back"
Elizabeth had 4 Haslebacher children and 1 Gregerson born 1910 before she married Neils Gregerson

I will plod on to see where this information goes

Thank you for your help

Regards

Louisa Maud

Hi Louisa Maud

I have just looked at the churchbooks of Lützelflüh and Sumiswald in the Canton Berne. There is an index of the names at the end of each churchbook, so you can see if the surname Haslebacher is in the book or not.

I have found two baptisms of a Gottfried Haslebacher in the churchbooks of Sumiswald. (Sumiswald 14 Taufrodel 1850-1865)
Both baptisms took place in the year 1860, one had a mother with surname Haslebacher, and the other is the following:

Haslebacher Gottfried, born 27th September,
baptised Friday 26th October 1860
Johannes Haslebacher , Peters von hier zu Haslebach
Anna Barbara Stalder, ... von hier
... Walkringen 25. November 1842

Peter Haslebacher, des Kindes Grossvater (grandfather of the child)
Johannes Haslebacher, des Kindes Bruder (brother of the child)
Anna Maria Stalder, geb. Stalder, des Kindes Grossmutter (grandmother of the child)

The marriage of the parents took place at Walkringen (see Walkringen 17 Eherodel 1826-1854, page 85)

den 25. November wurden ehelich eingesegnet in Walkringen
Hans Haslebacher, Peters zu Unterhaslebach
Anna Barbara Stalder, Samuels ... Maur
beide von Sumiswald (both from Sumiswald)
no witnesses mentionned

What a wealth of information svenja, it all helps to enhance my family tree.

I just wish I new what happened to him after 1911 and if and when he turned home, there was  some idea he died around 1928, I have no proof as yet

Huge thank you for information

Hi Louisa Maud

I have just found this: http://www.sumiswald.ch/de/tourismus/taeuferpfad.php
Read "On the trails of the Sumiswald Anabaptists" there are mentioned
Hans Haslebacher-Stalder and his father Peter Haslebacher-Sommer.
Maybe this are the two men mentionned on the baptism and marriage record above.

I am very  impressed with the info received to which I thank you very much, I just wonder when   Gottfried returned to Switzerland, as Caroline Elizabeth had a child with Mr Gregerson in 1910  I  can only assume that she thought Gottfried had returned earlier than 1911, perhaps I will never know, why  wonder was he "taken back" as the story goes

Thank you all
