« on: Tuesday 10 October 17 22:48 BST (UK) »
Looking for information on George Black Limavady, born 1898-1972.  Daughter was Helen Black.  Anyone know where George was born?  He had 3 daughters, Helen, Moira and Margaret.  Thanks.

Anyone know where George was born?

Have you looked for him on the 1901 and 1911 Irish censuses to establish his birthplace?

Thank you very much for the info & replies.  From the same house (4 Drumrane), there is a huge difference in the number of children at the house - most too young to have moved.  1911 census says 7 children born, 7 living.  I know that all survived - there were indeed 7 children.  so where did they go is the question?

Very many thanks for this reply - it has put another few names and important dates into the family.  George married Margaret Adessa Houston Wilson of Drumballydonaghy - can anyone let me know if there is a record anywhere?  Many thanks.

George Black - Maggie Wilson, 4 March 1926, registered Limavady district, a 'full' view costs £2.50 (including a digitised image of the registration):

And a 'maybe' is an Anna Bella Black of Bovally who married Alexander Rankin in Magilligan Presbyterian Church on 25 July 1922, her father given as John, a farmer, and the witnesses were a George and Ellen Black. GRONI online has the civil record.

And the following marriage for a Martha Black to Henry Smith in 1918 has her occupation as typist and her father's occupation as coachman - which doesn't really fit - but the address is Drumrane, so just to note until you can rule in or out (a son called Douglas Smith was born to this couple on 27 April 1921):

Likewise just to note for now a marriage registered in Limavady district for a John Black to Sarah Harkin on 16 February 1927, his address given as Drumramer and his father John given as a farm labourer.

Dear Gaffy

Thank you very, very, very much!!  Lots of work there to be getting on with - few surnames of marriage sure surprised and confirmed others!!

Best regards
