Collins Jr born May 1955, Son of Alford Collins Sr Born Feb-23 1933 and Lula Bell Whipple/Collins. His father was Willie Lee Collins (maybe a Jr) birth March 21, 1904 He married Kattie Bethaline Oaks/Collins. And his dad I think was Willie Collins sr. but I don't know so here's where I'd like to start off, from willie lee to as far back as possible I got a feeling there's been a name change in the past? Idk please help me with this ..

Welcome to Rootschat.

Can you clarify, are all these births in the USA?

Welcome from me too.

What about your mother's name & family? That is your bloodline too, as are the women who married the Collins men you name.

What gives you the 'feeling' that there has been a name change?

My mothers maiden name was Williams, she was the daughter of Richard Williams. Owner of the 3rd largest family/privately owned Campground in Indiana which is still owned by us it's called Broken Arrow Campground. It's in winamac Indiana. And yea I'm pretty sure as far back as the first Willie (my great grandpa) was born in USA not sure about before that. And yes my paw paw died 2004, Grammy Kathy was his second wife, she was a gorger, and paw paw always told me that his dad sold horses so I suppose that would be a "salesmen" I suspect a name change partly due to gut feeling and obscurity, my family never mentioned anyone after Willie sr and when I ask my dad he more or less changes the subject or says he don't remember // thank u guys by the way :)

Do you have your father's birth cert, if not, may be worth obtaining.

Hi,

On your paw paw Alford's obituary it says his fathers name was Alford L Collins Sr.

http://www.tributes.com/obituary/show/Alford-Collins-89834032

But on the 1940 census it says his dad is Willie Collins and mum is Bethel Collins.

Yes it was a mistake made by the persons who made the obituary text. But willie is his father for sure

Hi Cody,

I found on the find a grave index that Willie Lee Collins passed away 20th Oct 1980, buried in Momence Cemetery, Kankakee County Illinois. There appear to be five public trees on the Ancestry site which have Willie in. The trees belong to the Boswell Family (good Romany name), Kuryga family, Sadilek family, Prairie family and Collins family.
