Michael Kilday
« on: Wednesday 11 October 17 19:41 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm researching our family tree but I have come to a stop on information on Michael Kilday and his birth place. I know that Michael was born in 1856 and he married Mary Taylor in Falkirk Stirlingshire on the 29th of November 1884. I would love to get further back in the family tree. Michael's father was George and his Mother was Mary, no idea of her maiden name at the moment. I just know that Michael was born in Ireland. Thank you in advance.

Kilday not a very common name in Ireland so look out for Kildea/Gildea
e g
Mary Kilday was born in 1877 in Tubbercurry to George Kilday and Catherine Killoran

searching for a marriage gives

I've no idea if Michael had any siblings, I just know his parent's were George and Mary from his marriage certificate.

Hi, ok, thanks,
I picked up a George and Mary Kilday in Scotland in 1871. In 1901 it says Michael was a miner, so in 1871 he would have been old enough to go down the mines.
In the 1871 the family were in Gala in Melrose. does this ring any bells?

Thank you for your help, I'm just learning about the Kilday side of our family and don't really know much at the present time. I just know about Michael from his marriage certificate and the details on there. I did ask a newly found distant cousin because he's also researching the tree but he didn't really want to share too much of what he'd learnt so I'm researching myself. Thank you for your help.
