I haven't been able to find his occupation Sue. I've looked through a few Sands Directories but apart from living at Nelson Street, Woollahra there wasn't any other info.

That article could be him as I haven't found many other Henry Walter Moores in Sydney at that time.

Thanks for the reminder about Probate packet - probably worth getting a copy. At least it might say if they had any children. None found to date though.

I found a Death Notice in 1860 for the passing of Henry's sister in UK
It says:
"On the 14th June, 1860, at the residence of her brother, Lawn House, Wellington Grove, Greenwich, England, Jane Catherine, sister of H. W. Moore, of Neutral Bay, and H. M. Customs, Sydney, of consumption, after a most painful and protracted illness, and nearly three years confined to her bed, in the 43rd year of her age."

My question relates to the above notice:  Could "H M Customs" possibly be Henry's occupation/place or work?

The answer is yes. :)  I have several ancestor who were always described as of H M Customs and usually named the port to which they were attached.    Occasionally they were described of the Customs House at [name of port].

Hi,

The Woollahra Library have a family history section and they have helped me in the past with family information and they might be helpful with Henry Walter Moore.
