I think its just a word that may be just specific to the Holywell District,or indeed any District of the time in terms of Birth Registration.

I agree - it could be that there was a place there known to locals as 'Block' - just as all localities have special names for particular areas - I know of quite a few in the village where I grew up that aren't on any map or places listing.

Just a thought - is it worth doing a 'walk through' of the census pages for the area for 1861 (if it's available), to see if it's mentioned. A quick look at the enumerator's descriptions might be a starting oint.

Nothing in District 1.

I remember a 'Block House' in my village but for the life of me I can't remember where or what it was  :-\

I've found some census entries for Block,Ysceifiog,Holywell.I'll see if I can find it on a map.
