Jesse DALE, born 1843, Aston, Birmingham.
« on: Thursday 12 October 17 20:03 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I wonder if someone could kindly confirm, or otherwise, that Jesse DALE born 3rd quarter of 1843, Registration District Aston, is the same person who died in the Aston District in 1877 3rd quarter and was buried in the Warstone Lane Cemetery.

His mother was Hannah DALE, born 1811 in Birmingham, and he had innumerable brothers and sisters.

If he does prove to be the same person the intervening 34 or so years would make a blockbuster film  ::) 8)

For the moment,

According to the GRO site the Jesse Dale who died then was 36, your Jesse would have been 34, but as we know ages aren't always correct.

You could take advantage of the GRO pilot scheme where you can get the death certificate on line for £6, that may give you enough information to see if it is the correct man.

You don't mention a fathers name.  What was Hannah's maiden name as the 1843 birth shows mmn Kinkley - other births show Hinkley

Is this your own family history or one of many such posts in connection with your research into prisoners?

I notice this person was in prison in 1871

The personal details posted are, sadly, all I have managed to retrieve......  his convict history, including escapes from prison, is legend according to contemporary newspapers.

So he has no connection to your own family history then?

Looking at Freebmd there are only 2 Jesse Dales born about that time (ie right age for death) the one born in Aston and one born in Sussex, so it looks very likely that it is the right person.

Thank you for those details, which help my deductions.

If you would like an entertaining 10 minutes reading can I suggest The Grantham Journal published 02/07/1870 describing the antics of Jesse DALE.
