Hello

I've been unable to find a marriage between this couple who are my direct xGrandparents. Please could I have some help with this family?

James Midcalfe/Metcalfe and Ann Moir, both of Wallsend. Probably married around 1860.

Their children:
Birth registered 1859 for Hannah MOIR, no mother's maiden name (called Hannah Metcalf on the 1861 census)
1861  Ann Isabella MITCALF  mothers maiden name MOIR
1862  Thomas MITCALF  mothers maiden name MOIRS
1864  James MIDCALF  "  "  "  MOIR
1866  Alexander MITCALF    "  "  "  MOIR
1867  Mary METCALF    "  "  "  MOIR
1869  Margaret METCALF    "  "  "  MOIR
1871  William METCALF    "  "  "  MOIR

I have seen James and Ann (Metcalf) and children on the 1861 and 1871 census at Willington, but nothing more recent for the couple and the younger children.

Have I missed anything out that would be useful?

Anyone born in Scotland?  They could have married over the border - or not at all.

Thomas Metcalfe born Willington 1862 is a boarder in 1881 age 19 labourer in ship yard.

Possible marriage in 1883 to Jane Nichol has Thomas' father as James.

According to the 1861 census

James was born Wallsend 1832
Ann was born Newcastle 1835
Hannah was born Wallsend 1859
Ann was born Wallsend 1861
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

James' baptism date is 9 Dec 1832 at St. Peter's, Wallsend, Northumberland, England

Father Thomas is from Yorkshire (varies on the 51, 61 and 71 census as to where)

Durham Records Online free index shows the burial in 1874 of a James Metcalf of Wallsend, aged 42, i.e. born c. 1832, which fits with the death David has noted.

Age doesn't quite fit, but there is this death in Tynemouth RD, 1st q. 1872, Ann Metcalf, 10b, 102
Durham Records Online free index give this as Ann Metcalf of Wallsend.
