Hi I would suggest that the marriage of John Dixon to Elizabeth Henshall Sept qtr 1893 Prescot 8b 1015 is a possibility?

The 1901 shows he was born St Helens - have you looked for him on the 1881 census?

Do you have a copy of his marriage cert showing his fathers name?

Think Dixon could also be recorded as Dickson, so this marriage is possible:

Marriages March quarter 1859
Robert Dickson        Prescot    8b   694
Catherine Whittle     Prescot    8b   694

These potential parents are as Dixon in 1881 and 1891 and Dickson in 1871 and 1901 on quick Ancestry search.

Think would need marriage certificate for John in 1893 for father's name to help to confirm, and then the parents' marriage for names of their fathers.
