Anne Given
« on: Sunday 15 October 17 17:33 BST (UK) »
Trying to find out any info on Anne Given who was born in Co. Donegal about 1853.  Her father was called James Given.  She married John McLaughlin 21.11.1868 in Castlefinn Strabone and they moved to Greenock Scotland about 1870.  Would like to try to find out their parents/family before birth but do not know how to research this. Any info would be great.

Did they stay in Greenock or move elsewhere - Scottish death certificates can give a lot of information?

Hi thanks for your reply.  They moved from Greenock to West Ham where Ann died.  I am really struggling to find out about Anne's birth and anything about her family before she married my G.Grandad John McLaughlin. (They both came from Co. Donegal according to the marriage certificate) I am also trying to find out about his birth and his parents.  I have all the info needed for Anne & Johns marriage / children etc but no info before their births other than her father was called James (but someone has posted that his name was Jason so I will follow that up)  I also know that John's father was called John which also doesn't help.  Why are they always given the same names!!
