Marriage James Taylor and Martha Pedan, 13 Mar 1868
« on: Monday 16 October 17 01:03 BST (UK) »
Hi All,
I have the marriage for James Taylor and Martha Jane Pedan at the Aghadowey Presbyterian Church , Coleraine Civil District 13th march 1868.
Does anyone have access to the details for this marriage, I particularly wanted to know the Groom and Brides fathers names.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

datal,
Thank you very much that is the information I was looking for. I had a baptism for a james with a Father Archibald, this proves it is the wrong one.

Aghadowey,
Once again you have excelled. I knew that I was short of a William b 1874 in the earlier message but I didn't know there were twins.

Aghadhowey,
I am not certain when GRONI first started recording births.
Family records indicate that James was born about 1840 , would it be possible to see if there is a birth record for him with a father William Taylor.
From the marriage details both James and William could have been itinerant workers that moved from place to place.

Aghadowey,
I have received a YDNA match with a Jeffrey Taylor who lives in the US. He is the grandson of the James Taylor and Martha Pedan, who are the subject of this post. This means we are family connected, my Taylors were resident at Aird, Billy parish, Antrim from an earliest known date of 1734 .
Somehow these families were connected from Coleraine to Aird.
In checking Bill McAfee's records I find that in 1663 Hearth money rolls there were the following Taylors in Londonderry
2575 Taylor M'Tayler Patrick Loughinsholin Kilcronaghan Drumcrow [Drumero halfe]
938 Taylor Taylor Edward Keenaght Magilligan Lenamore [Leatmore]
2650 Taylor Taylor Robert Loughinsholin Magherafelt Annaghmore
1207 Taylor Taylor Thomas N. E. Liberties of Coleraine Coleraine The Town & Parish of Coleraine
The Thomas Taylor in Coleraine looks to be of interest. This is a Taylor family name and there were no Taylors in Aird Antrim by that date.
By the time of the Protestant Householder report of 1740 the number of Taylors in Coleraine had grown considerably .

Taylor Taylor Alex Coleraine Macosquin
There was still only a George and Warren Taylor at Aird in Antrim, the only Taylors in Antrim.
All of these forenames except for Charles were used by my Aird Taylors.
It would appear that it is likely that my Aird Taylors could have come from Coleraine, and that some of the Taylors listed here will be ancesters of the James Taylor married in 1868.
It would appear that checking the Church Register at the Agadhowey presbyterian church might provide some more information on Jame's family and his father William.
Is it possible to access this on the internet ?.
