Hum.  Thanks for that.

Another thing that bothers me about John-the-shoemaker (-v- John-the-ag-lab) is that he and Susannah's children are named

Emmeline
Albert
Ann
and
Louisa

so, not a William or Margaret in sight  ???

I must confess I thought that last night before looking, have you got Emmeline's baptism?

on page 542 Film # 004172619 for the Melbourne records, Sarah Ann Peat is a witness

Is there any link between Susannah Peat & Sarah Ann Peat?

I did start looking the other day - and again just now - but each time the system seems to grind to a halt  :(

Haven't looked much at Susannah yet - because I'm still puzzling about John!   :-\

Ancestry has two baptisms for a Susannah Peat in 1816 in Melbourne, one on 7th Jan and the other on 17th, d/o William and Ann. Am thinking they're one and the same, but need to try the register to see for myself.

Edited to say : And FS has another baptism for a Susannah Peat in 1816 in Melbourne on 2 June, d/o James and Sarah.  Oh dear  :-X
