Yes, I do appreciate that Shaun - I was generalising as there is rarely a corresponding age after 1861.

Apologies if I misled you. You are quite right.

I was also wondering if the child Patrick who died was of the same family, that might be a reason for no registration.

Heywood, Yes that is the correct list I have. It is the 1881 census that seems to be the anomaly as it has Mary Staunton as a mother in law to Michael whereas it could be presumed her parents were Martin and Bridget.

Shaunj, That is brilliant and very likely her. It sustains my theory that she was still Sabina Regan up to marrying Michael some years later and that they just lived as man and wife. Also knowing her great, great, great grandson as I do being drunk and disorderly in Scotland Road is very much on the cards!!
