you might like to take a look at Free BMD for some clues.
March qtr 1920 Llanelly
William J Downing married Florence E Harris.

If you know any childrens names then you can search with mothers maiden name.

No Downing births with mmn Harris in Llanelly. Some possible in Aston/Warwickshire area. 1939 has only one other with family but record blacked out.
