I was going to add the comment that the name Humphreys comes in a variety of flavours but the last few posts made that obvious. My Humphreys (also originally from Northants) were spelt without the final 's' and with 'ies' replacing 'eys'. I also came across the Humfris version. Fortunately most searches with the name variations box ticked find the alternative spellings but not every time. It seems to depend on what the search engine ate that day. If it has indigestion it sometimes cannot even find events with names spelt correctly. I know this because I sometimes have to use other ways to find records and after finding them I cannot for the life of me see why the search engine couldn't find them. It's enough to give me the hump (hreys).

Tony
Sorry about the feeble humour :)
