Did the marriage entry give an address or occupation for James. Also did the entry for the baptism give an occupation, address or the details of witnesses who might be relatives?

Is this the same Margaret Barr who is in Shettleston, Lanarkshire in 1851?

1851
Eastmuir
Margaret Barr, 70, widow, stocking knitter, Aberdeen
Margaret Barr, 33, hand loom weaver, Shettleston
James Barr, 11m, grandson, Shettleston

There's a baptism record in Barony in 1819 for a daughter Margaret, born to James Barr and Margaret Sutherland.

As GR2 suggests, if you have a look at both the marriage and baptism on Scotland's People, you may be able to confirm that it's the same couple who were married in Aberdeen in 1809.

I have confirmed all the above as correct but the problem is getting further back than James Barr and Margaret Sutherland I think the only way is to order the marriage cert to find out his date of birth plus his parents names

There won't be a marriage certificate, as the marriage of James Barr and Margaret Sutherland happened prior to 1855, when statutory registration of marriages was introduced in Scotland.

Scotland's People will have the entry in the parish records that relates to the marriage - typically, the reading of the banns, but it may include the date of the actual marriage as well. It certainly won't contain details of either parties' dates of birth, or their parents. You might be lucky and get the groom's occupation, residence, and exceptionally, the father's name and residence.

You can view the details from the parish records (for the birth of Margaret, as well) at Scotland's People for a modest fee - it's a pay per view site - you'll only need to order certificates for more recent births, marriages and deaths.
