I know you want to find his marriage - but there is no evidence, other than the birth registration of his daughter in Scotland, that a marriage in England and Wales took place.

The only other thing I can think of, is that you contact the Bradford Register Office.  I don't know how helpful they are, but you do have a date and the names of the parties.  You never know, you might be lucky.   :-\

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

Yes, I agree. They may not have been married at all.

Thanks anyway

I have checked the printed indices from the GRO, but there is no indication that the entry has been omitted from the FreeBMD transcriptions of the printed indices  However, as I suggested, perhaps you could try Bradford Register Office - there is a very slight possibility that an omission took place somewhere along the line between Bradford and the GRO.

Hello

Looking generally in the Newspapaper Archive with "Ghio", names came back with M'Ghio. Not unusual to drop the Mc or Mac off, shame, but people did it. Couldn't check further as my BNA registration stopped yesterday.

Also search Ghie. One was a snippet view advert for a M'Ghio in a Bradford paper?

All the best, Mark

M. S. is Maiden Surname.

One or more Scottish children sometimes carried their ancestor nee / M. S. surname as a middle name.

Roman Catholics in Yorkshire held onto some of their old Registers at the Church itself and just discovered that some are still not even transcribed, nor even filmed / fiched.

If you are still stuck, have Marriage date and place name the local Registrar should be able to help, with providing a Copy Certificate?

Thank you all - lots of really useful information. A little update from the family is that apparently, there was a family rumour that they weren't married at all! So I've reigned back on the determination to find it now. Kind regards.

Hi

The nearest Town Hall at Brescia, Library or Regional Archive, worth a try?

https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Italy_Civil_Registration#Births_.5Bnati.2Fnascite.5D

We attended a French Wedding about 35 years ago near the Italian border, the Town Mayor married them first at the Town Hall (Civil part) and if any religious ceremony was conducted, it was afterward and held elsewhere.
