Could this be the John born 1801...and his wife Ann and their young family and any maybe two nephew and a neice?

It could well be son John and wife. Not sure of the others - maybe follow them on the 1851. The 1841 doesn't show relationships.

On the Valuation Roll for 1855, John Morrison is down as the tenant of Salachary - only a few properties away from South Tullich where the Widow A McArthur was tenant.

Yes that's fantastic Gadget, I see that's on land owned by George Campbell 8th Duke of Argyll who died at Inverary Castle in 1900...I will get my teeth into this one and hopefully nail down some more facts...thanks again (I am stuck for time so I might get an hour or two during the week to look at all this but I am delighted with your help)
