Neylon ancestry
« on: Saturday 21 October 17 02:43 BST (UK) »
Looking for information on John Patrick Neylon born in Ennistymon County Clare Ireland March 17, 1828.  He arrived in New York in 1848, moved to Massachusetts, married Helen Anna O'Brien there, moved to Galesburg Illinois where he died February 3, 1898.  His obituary indicated he had a brother Michael and two sisters, Mary and Brigid still in Ireland.  His father was listed as Martin Neylon and his mother as Deborah.  That is all the information I have.  Thus far I haven't found any information on his siblings or his parents.  I really hope there is someone out there who can shed some light on this.  Thanks.  Anita Hallman Kowalski

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

I have been to the library in Ennis which houses the archives, and have been in contact with the archivist for over 5years.  Neylons in the area, but so far no way to prove connection.  I am currently working with the Corafin archives to see if they can find anything.  Traveled also to my great grandfather’s birthplace, but no church records available that far back.  Still looking for his father and mother.  My next step is cemeteries.  I have listings of Neylon graves in cemeteries near where he lived and I am going back to Ennis in April.  From there I will check out cemeteries, and the research being done in Corafin.

I am looking for verification of birth which would be somewhere near Ennistymon.  And I am looking for verification of marriage, which was said to take place in Massachusetts, but Massachusetts says they have no record.  If I can get these, then maybe his parents are listed and I can go from there.  Thanks for your response.
