Scotlands People record deaths:

Thomas Matthew LYON age 64, registered in Kilwinning , Ayrshire, 1950
Hannah LYON or BANKS, age 83 years, registered in Irvine, Ayrshire, 1967

PROBATE:
Thomas Matthew LYON of 21 Rowalian Drive, Kilmarnock, died 6 December 1950 at Irvine. Confirmation of Hannah LYON, widow. Sealed, London 9 March 1951

When you say Biographical, do you already have (want?) his early life biographical data - his census with parents, his mother's maiden name, siblings etc etc?

Hi Ambly,

I know this - "Second Lieutenant Thomas Matthew Lyon, 9th Battalion Highland Light Infantry, and Labour Corps, born in 1887 at Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, was the third son of Thomas Lyon, a Mason, and Margaret Lyon, of 8 Howard Park Drive, Kilmarnock. His siblings were Agnes, Archibald, David, Alexander and Gareth (?). On Saturday 4 September 1915, the Daily Record reported: Private T. M. Lyon. Glasgow Highlanders, son of Mr. Thomas Lyon, builder, Kilmarnock, has been wounded in action by the bursting of a shell. Private Lyon before enlisting was a member of The Kilmarnock Standard editorial staff."

His wounding would tie in with him being in a military hospital and it looks like he met his future wife there.

I'm sure there would be more details in the archive of The Kilmarnock Standard in view of his employment there, but it is not available on line. Things like school attended (Kilmarnock Academy?), then career before and after WW1, details of wounding. I feel sure his nespaper would have done an obit.

Best wishes, Alistair
