I have found 2 James Taylor in the 1841 census in Bristol
About the right age
1 a surveyor and 1 a merchant

Could you please give the census references so we can see who you are talking about

The 2nd one has been mistranscribed st James is in Gloucestershire and on the census where it says born in county James has ticked yes. So he was born in Gloucestershire.
Yes the other James the surveyor was not born in county.
But as I don’t know where the Pool children were born is doesn’t mean very much

Sorry about the Somerset, there are many records for Bristol showing the wrong county as it is on the border. I tend to search both counties.

Where did Robert Hillhouse die

Just to mention, I had a read of the Will of one of James Martin Millhouse' daughter Mary Ann (Marian) written 1846, proved 1848. No mention whatsoever of any issue of her late brother Robert  or of there being any surviving spouse of Robert or anyone with the surnames Tayler or Pool.

It does mention her siblings:  Sarah, Abraham, George and Martin & Eleanor and various other family (Bush etc)

Cheers

POOL/TAYLOR

Looking at Family Search - there are a 'few' POOLE/TAYLOR marriages in Gloucestershire

Anna POOL/George TAYLOR - 7 April 1771
Ann POOLE/William TAYLOR - 1819 - Westbury on Trym
Joseph POLE/Elizabeth TAYLOR - 26 May 1830

etc

My x Grandfather in two later census returns - went by his Grandmother's maiden name.

British Newspapers on Line - don't subscribe - but do mention Robert HILHOUSE and his brothers - as Alderman
