Missing person in 1901 census - Sarah Gibson
« on: Saturday 21 October 17 22:44 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to find Sarah Gibson nee Masterson (Hulme, Lancashire manchester) 1851 - 1924 in the 1901 census. I am trying to find out if she is shown as a widow, for I am trying to identify the date of death of her husband John gibson 1847b (|Nottingham). I can not trace either John nor Sarah in the 1901 census.

Both John and Sarah are in the 1891 census, 18 Pryme Street, Hulme, Lancashire, England, with their 4 children. Sarah is in the 1911 census as a widow, 8 Edensor Place C-o-medlock. With Son Arthur and his family.

John was alive for his daughter Ada's wedding in 1895 (marriage cert shows Ada's father in law as Dec'd but not her father) and possibly his daughters wedding in 1898. (not shown as Dec'd on certificate) He was dead in 1903, for his Son Arthurs' wedding cert shows him as dec'd. Therefore he died between 1898 and 1903. But when, is the problem. Looking at FreeBMD, and the age pf those who died in that period in Lancashire I think John died late 1899.

But then where was Sarah in 1901? Any ideas??
