Many thanks to all for the information you have provided about the Heater/ Heeter family; it is going to take me a while to write up all your information

Special thanks must go to MaureeninNY for finding Daniel and Joseph Heater in the 1860 US Federal Census.

I think I have found Daniel Heater in the 1840 US Federal Census at Slippery Rock, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.  The thing that confuses me is that the census says that Slippery Rock is in Mercer County Pennsylvania but when I look on the internet it tells me that Slippery Rock is over the boarder in Butler County.  Can anybody tell me whether or not the boundary between Butler County and Mercer County has change since 1840, or is there another Stippery Rock in Mercer County?

I am still struggling to find a record of the death for Daniel Heater and his wife Margaret. Have any of you kind people tried and failed?

My original request was to try and find the maiden name of Daniel Heaters wife Margaret. From looking at the various censuses it appears that she was born in Ireland Whilst I accept that this information is unlikely to be available on the internet and would necessitate a visit to Mercer County  I would appreciate all guidance as to where I should start looking. Are the records (marriage and birth/baptism) still located in the churches or have they been placed in a central  location within the county or state? Is there anywhere a list of Churches that exist/ have existed in Mercer County and where their records are stored?

I appreciate all the links you have given me to extend my knowledge of the family however the key think I would like to identify is Margaret's maiden name.
Regards
