Later census show a connection of Duncan to sister Annie nee Campbell Kidd - There was a death of a Duncan Campbell 23 September 1918 in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey.
Aged 60 years. The brother of Mrs David Kidd - (this would be sister Annie)

FIND A GRAVE

David Kidd - Burial: Laurel Grove Memorial Park  Totowa Passaic County New Jersey.

Duncan was boarding with Annie and David Kidd in 1910 New Street Paterson Ward 7, Passaic, New Jersey.

thank you Sandra that certainly looks promising although I notice Duncan is marked as single but also notice in the 1900 census daughter Aggie possibly short for Agnes named after her Aunt?

Yes they are all connected.

Leah died 11 Jan 1895, not 1894. There is a death notice for her in the newspaper. She is listed as the wife of the late Alexander Campbell.

Duncan appears to have had some issues and a temper they got him in trouble with law on numerous occasions. He assaulted his wife several times. In 1893 he threw a lighted lamp at her. His wife Annie seemed to have her issues too. In 1895 Annie was charged with adultery after Duncan & their daughter Leah entered the house and found Annie & another man in bed. Duncan didn't care but  the daughter Leah made the charge. :o

Duncan's wife Annie died in Sept. 1896. In 1898 Duncan didn't approve of the guy his daughter Leah was going with and tried to kill him and also  assaulted the guy's mother.  He was arrested.  The daughter Leah turned around and married the guy the next day. ;D

Leah 1900 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M9NZ-ZVB

Then in 1899 Duncan tried to kill himself by slitting his throat. But after he had done it he changed his mind and asked them to save his life. In 1901 he was an inmate in a house and apparently lost it and started wrecking the house house and chasing other inmates with a table knife. He was hauled away.

He died 23 Sept. 1918 at his sister Mrs. David Kidd's home. (Death notice)

There are more stories about Duncan, but these are the highlights.
