Incredibly small even for a bugle!  I would say memento, he would most definitely not have been carrying a sword to war and if he had, the enemy would have taken it from him when captured!

Yes more than likely. I will eventually get photos scanned and uploaded but iCloud being a pain of late so trying to fix that first.

here's an image of the bugle thingy next to my iphone 7. its about 13cm length ways. its in terrible condition but intrigued me

No idea - far too small to be a military bugle.

Ah well. I can try identify it at some point I guess further down the line. I need to get the sword out of the cupboard this weekend to photograph it. Got boxes in the way so haven’t had chance to move them yet.
I downloaded the map last night to eventually print and keep with all Roberts war documents at least.

Looks a bit like a hunting horn, the type fox hunter's use.
I can imagine an Officer taking one with him, idiosyncrasies again.

Ah yes possibly. I can look further in to it I guess once I’ve caught up with all my notes and updating the tree :-)
