Looking for a birth/baptism of Bernard Charlton circa 1730-1740 possibly in the area of Swallowfield Berkshire.
He may or may not have the middle name of Parfitt.

He gave his son that middle name and his grandson had the same name, so it has a family connection somewhere, it's not his wife's maiden name.

He married 1762 Middlesex Frances Hill

Hi amondg,

There is a Barnet Chorlton bapt. 18-7-1741 in Swallowfield on F/search.

Could this be the person you are seeking but has been mistranscribed?

I'll check it out but I think he is the one who married Mary Cooke 1767 at Swallowfield as he names a son Mark the same as his father.

I might need to include Reading.

Several names I'm looking for moved to Middlesex, but from legacies left to relatives, bankruptcy etc
it keeps coming back to Reading and Swallowfield Berkshire.

Parents Marriage?

John CHARLTON to Mary PERFETT, 27 April 1724, Saint Giles, Reading, Berkshire
(F/S.Org)

There are several children christened Hurst, Berks, to a John/Mar\y but a submitted entry has their Mother a Mary Gill.

So Marriage looks possible but as the children I am not sure.

Trish :)

Many many thanks Trish, now I have a reason why they carried on the name.

ADDED looks like the name was Elizabeth Perfett.

Has anyone access to St Giles Reading marriages and or baptism
John married Elizabeth Perfett 1724, did he also marry Jane Foowin 1732?

I found 2 children of a John and Jane Charlton at St Giles, son John 1736 and daughter Ann 1737

Hi amondg,
There is a baptism for a Jane Frewin 17-12-1705 (born 9-12) at Ipsden, Oxfordshire d/o Richard & Francis [sic] on Ancy... if you have sub.
From memory this parish is not so far away from Reading (Henley/Sonning way)
Other than that I cannot find any other bapt. in Berks -

and yes John did marry Jane Frewin 4-10-1732 Reading St.Giles.
