Help wanted with the abreviations on Medal Description

After receiving my Father's Army records I discovered that he had a medal.  Although I know it is 1939/45 F&G Star I don't know the significance of the additional abreviations.  I have attached a scan in case it would help anyone to help

It is all administrative guff relating to the authority under which the medals were authorised.  Part II order No 25 of 1946 3 RTR at General headquarters 2nd Echelon British Army of the Rhine and then a form reference for receipt of the medals.  You can safely ignore it all!

PS - it is actually two medals, the 1939-45 War Medal and the France and Germany Star.

Wow!  Thank you for this as well, Max! 

I wonder if the second one might be for his assignment against the German Officers?  They did end up killing all of them!!  Is there anywhere that a reason for the medal might be found?

Sorry Karen, both of the medals are campaign medals - you got them for service  - at least 28 days in the service in the case of the War Medal and the France/Germany Star for service in France/Germany/Luxembourg/Netherlands/Belgium any time from D Day to May 45.
