George and Margaret Dalrymple

Looking for information on George and Margaret Dalrymple of Dumfries Scotland.
What we know is their son John Dalrymple arrives here in Melbourne, Victoria,  Australia he marries a Catherine McDonald in 1858, they had seven children
John's death cert states born Dumfries abt 1834, his death was 1883, Victoria.

I've had a look and the nearest I can find in Dumfries 1834 is this
John Dalrymple at Caerlaverock born 26 June 1834 bapt 1 July 1834 son of George and Helen Dalrymple nee Robertson mariner
or
John son of Thomas  and Margaret Dalrymple nee Kerr born 2nd Feb and bapt  09/02/1835  at Keir Dumfries.

Does his grave give a date of birth or does the naming pattern of his children along traditional Scottish lines help?

Personally I'd go for the earlier example based on his entry in the Cemetery index for 9th  Feb 1883 age 49.
Margaret Robertson born 1776  ,Helen's mother lived with the family could that be where Margaret came from?

There are other members of the family in the graveyard but no John.

Yes it does seem possible the names are just about the same give one or two differences. We don’t have and exact birth date only abt 1834 as he was 49 at death, on his death cert mother was given as Margaret, but  most likely they didn’t really know for sure as it usually goes the distance and time had faded
I forgot to say that this John appears to of arrived on assisted shipping to Australia  1855 aged 21 he later appears in census occ as platelayer, he marries in 1858 to a Mcdonald..
