think Isaac may be local - there are two the right age in the Ashton area in 1861, one with mother Margaret.

Not sure whether he stayed in the US - there's an Isaac the right age with wife and children (and step son) in Pennsylvania from 1880 census onwards. oldest of their children is b c1872. He's a coal miner, which fits
