Colton/coulton tyrone dungannon
« on: Wednesday 25 October 17 22:49 BST (UK) »
Looking for resting place of my GGGranparents. Names alice Colton and Francis Colton. They had children, Francis, James, John and I believe a daughter Catherine. I was told perhaps they lived on annaGinny road...they had a farm. Also looking for possible kin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Years around the 1850’s. They already had their children at this time.

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Not sure what "Years around the 1850’s." refers to but this might be the family in 1901-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Tullyniskane/Ballymenagh/1737388
and Alice Coulton having aged 20 years from 1901-1909-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1909/05464/4529179.pdf

This looks to be the townland- a Francis Coulton there in Griffith's Valuation-

Road names in rural areas are recent (c1970ish) but present Annaginny Road is in that area.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you. Those are my GGGrandparentsand distant aunts and uncles. I had the census info and death info on Alice already. I can’t seem to find a cemetery which they are laid to rest. I also recently found out about Annaginny Road...someone told me 59 Annaginny was their farm. I google mapped the location and didn’t find pictures of 59. I’m also looking for descendants of my family. I thank you so much for your help.

'59 Annaginny' Road? is a modern address- their address would simply have been the name of the townland. You should be able to find where they lived and then check to see if the house is still there.

Valuation Revision Books are online (PRONI) free and follow property from the printed version of Griffith's until c1930. So, start with what you know (1911 census) and work forwards and backwards-
https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/information-and-services/search-archives-online/valuation-revision-books

Then, when you've gotten back to Griffith's Valuation, use the maps attached to the property to see historic and modern maps-
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=placeSearch

Next, go to Google Maps and search for the same property using mapt & satellite views and then Streetview (not all places are viewable from the road).

Use this site to see possible graveyards in the area but remember not all families erected heastones so there may be nothing recorded-
