There was a civilian on horseback, but he's now been modified out, and a soldier on horseback. The soldier is Royal Artillery.

Thanks, I originally thought the I'd scanned a different army photograph I have but uploaded the civilian one by accident.

A pity we can't make out the shoulder titles which would have told us what branch he was.  The way he has doctored his cap brim to look "alli" would suggest Royal Horse Artillery.
