As a Messenger at the House of Lords he would not be a shoemaker, surely?

Further information:

'on his marriage cert. 1903 he named his father as John White, occupation Messenger at the House of Lords [deceased] . have found a john White but he was a Shoemaker and I can remember my mother saying that his father was a white collar worker who disapproved of Edward becoming a Boxer'

Are you corresponding with Antoinette by personal message as this is the 2nd time you have added further information she hasn't openly posted?

Or is there another source?

I have asked Antoinette to reply on here, which she has done, and she has also replied to me with some of the same information, and some different, so I have told her that I have copied it, or amended it, and then posted it.

thank you all for your help re:Edward White. I just wish I had asked more questions before my older relatives passed this is why I want to do my Tree now so my descendants don't have to go through all this lol

I so agree everything seems to point to John White the 'Shoemaker' being Edward's father but family 'folklore' always said that his father was a clerk in the City. seems a case of Chinese whispers to me! put I will keep plodding on lol
