Hi,

Could you tell me how easy/difficult it is to try and trace someone who emigrated to Canada in the

1950's.

Have you found them on any passenger lists, that would be a starting point? FindMyPast have passenger lists from 1890 - 1960.

 Yes I Have.

They sailed on 29th April 1955 from Liverpool to Quebec on board the Franconia.

I know that they settled in Toronto.

Thank you. I just hope I fine the right family.

Is it possible to research marriages from 1970's and 1980's?

Canada does not have a BMD index as does the UK.  The privacy laws are quite strict. The latest marriages available are 1932 ish.  Are the people you seek living  ??? Or can you give names and year of birth - or any other details  ???

I have the same question about my ancestor who migrated to Canada between 1839 and 1851. He did not like that country and returned with his family to England. Considering that a few years later he went to Darlingford in the Upper Goulburn country of Victoria - well known gold seeking area that the time was closer to 1851.
my George Thomas Gilbert was born 1806 in Shirehampton - a stones throw from the Port of Bristol. He married twice -

I have no idea of ships or areas of settlement in Canada.
Any clues?

Cheers
