Golden family ancestor circa 1860, Co. Mayo, Ireland
« on: Friday 27 October 17 11:13 BST (UK) »
My father found a picture of my great-great-great-grandfather taken from a picture in a relative's house a long time ago. The digital is not very big and the quality is not the best, besides being over-exposed and having a big halo in the center which ruins an important part of the picture, but this is the oldest ancestor we have a picture of in our genealogy tree and it would be great to have it restored.

The location would probably be Ballaghaderreen, Ireland, in the 1860s. (At that time Ballaghaderreen was in County Mayo, not Roscommon, and Ireland was still part of the United Kingdom.)

Black and white restoration is perfect (or even leave it beige). Colorizing would be a huge plus but I understand it's difficult especially without much information on colors. In any case if someone wants to take a chance at colorizing please also attach the monochrome version.

Thank you!  :)
