Joseph Tawke KEMP
« on: Friday 27 October 17 17:36 BST (UK) »
Just wondered if anybody had this man in their tree, I have him born c1796 in Rochford, Essex and married to a Sarah.  His parents were, I believe, John Kemp and Susanna but other than that I cannot find out anything about him.  Thanks  ;D

If you don't have him in the 1841 Census he is living in Strood Green, Rochford with Sarah and children Thomas 16, William 14, Charlotte 10 and Mary 7
HO107/337/17/f42/p5

In 1851 Sarah is still living in the same place but is now a widow
HO107/1777/F382/p35

There is a death reg for a Joseph Kemp

June 1842 Rochford vol 12 p 150 aged 49 which gives a yob as 1793 which is reasonably close to 1796.

They then moved to Great Stambridge but attended the same church.

Thank you so much, this name Tawke keeps popping up and there are some very interesting accounts with that name but cannot tie them in.  I am very grateful for the help you have given.

Dr. Williams Library registered a number of the children 30 June 1820, giving the father as John Kemp and mother as Susanna Stonard daughter of James and Susanna Stonard.

John Abbot
Mary Ann
Susanna (1800)
Rachel Adams
Frederick
Emma
George Tawke
PLUS one I didn't find in the other register
EDWIN born 19 April 1804

Since they had 2 children named Joseph 1796 and 1808 the original Joseph you asked about had died before 1808.
Susanna 1795 has died before 1800.
The second Joseph 1808 and Alfred 1807 are also missing from Dr. Williams list so are no doubt
already deceased by 30 June 1820.

****So if your ancestor is Joseph Tawke Kemp married Sarah then I think you need to find a brother of John who gave his children the same names.

Possible lines to search.

John Durrival Kemp died 1810 his will written  27 February 1810 proved 26 July 1810, he was of Little Stambridge.
To be interred at Prittlewell next to his late mother Martha Kemp.
Wife Mary
sons John, Robert, Henry.
daughters Eliza, Louisa, Mira wife of John (Hardwick)? and Mary wife of Samuel Richardson of Reading.

The John Kemp of previous posts may be the son of this John Kemp, which gives you brother Henry and Robert to follow.
