www.libertyellisfoundation.org shows several trips for her.
In addition to the first arrival in 1919, it appears that in 1921 Suzanne Mayer (21), returned to the US in the company of a sister, Jeanne, (17), who was born Laneuville(?). They were heading to Jacksonville, Illinois.

There are a few later trips for both Suzanne and Jeanne, they seem to be both travelling together on the Veendam in 1926, for example. They were teachers.

Despite the different father's name, I think this might be Jeanne's marriage in 1928:

(Can't find them later in the US - maybe went back to Switzerland with her husband?)

I would expect records for Nancy to be found here: http://www.archives.meurthe-et-moselle.fr/fr/archives-en-ligne.html but they don't seem to have birth records past the 1880s.

However taking a bet that Jeanne's birthplace on the 1921 ship register was actually a reference to Laneuveville-devant-Nancy , they do have recensements (the French census).

1906: page 4 of 38
Rue Nationale, 19 contains two households:

Charles Dron, b. 1842, Laneuveville-devant-Nancy
Anne Hilare, b. 1847, Lunéville , his wife

Pierre Mayer, b. 1873, Verdun, electrician
Marie Dron, b. 1877, Laneuveville-devant-Nancy, his wife
Suzanne Mayer, b. 1899, Nancy, his daughter
Jeanne Mayer, b. 1903, Laneuveville-devant-Nancy, his daughter

By 1911, Charles Dron is at the same address alone (page 7 of 43)

Pierre Emile Mayer is also listed in the 1893 matricules militaires (registers of military service). He is number 404 in the Bureau of Nancy. Born 31 July 1873, Verdun, his parents were Nicholas and Catherine nee Neu, both deceased.

The most important thing this document gives is a list of addresses:
13 May 1896 - was at Laneuveville-devant-Nancy
4 Oct 1899 - No 17, Rue Mac Mahon, Nancy (probably where Suzanne was born)
8 Nov 1901 - Laneuveville-devant-Nancy
20 Apr 1906 - 3 Ave de St. Germain,  Bois Colombes
15 Jan 1908 - 8 Rue du 22 Septembre, Courbevoie
24 Dec 1911 - 19 Rue du Tramway, Belfort
27 Jun 1914 - still at 19 Rue du Tramway
The last address given is 5 Rue du Thann Belfort which I think is where he was when he was finally removed from the reserves list in 1917.

Thanks jorose. Did the French census record maiden names or is it French custom for women to not change names on marriage?
