Location of Hill, placename in North Wingfield parish register
« on: Saturday 28 October 17 09:33 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Can anyone tell me where the place name Hill is in North Wingfield parish? My ancestor John Fretwell Bramley's parents were living there when he was christened in 1777. There were also baptisms of the two daughters of John and Ann Fretwell of Hill in 1759 and 1763 (John Fretwell Bramley's mother Mary was the 1759 one).

Thanks,

Sue

Only two places that I can find on old maps are Church Hill and Furnace Hill ~

A couple of earlier baptisms for the Fretwell's give their abode as Hill House.

Could it be Hillhouse farm?

Thank you Carol and Gadget. It looks like it was probably Hill House Farm. I wonder if John Fretwell Bramley's father George took over the farm as his father-in-law had no sons that I know of (none mentioned in his will).

Thanks for your help.

Sue
