Looking for parents

I have a Thomas Joseph CHILDS born 1858 his parents are Charles CHILDS & Anne ROBINSON they married app 1855 I'm trying to find info on them & their parents but am having trouble researching the name Childs prity sure this family is from Hampshire any help greatly appreciated

Have you found Thomas on the 1861 census with his parents?  That should give birthplaces for them and the marriage certificate for Charles and Anne should give their fathers names to trace back.

Birth for Thomas was registered Mar 1858 Portsea Island

Marriage Jun 1855 Portsea 
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Not getting on too well with finding Charles and Anne - have you got the birth certificate which confirms those were his parents? 

There is another family in 1861 * which might fit but different parents names  :-\

* forget that one they too have a son Thomas in 1858

Thanks for the help I'm helping my gr aunt (by marriage) she knew the parents names for Thomas she can't afford the certificates so trying to wing it at the moment I might have to buy her the marriage certificate to see if I can work their parents out I thought researching my NEW surname caused me grief this 1 has given me a headache

I think I may have found Ann & Thomas in 1861?
Although Ann is Sarah A Childs :-\

A "J" can be confused with an "S"?
So Thomas S could well be Thomas J :-\

Sarah A was born Sheerness Kent and a Seamans wife.

Middle initial for Thomas could be a J

Where do you have Thomas on census - it may help us to track back
