Could this be Gertrude?  Marriage 1950 to Sidney Turner.

Gertrude dying 1976 aged 83 and Sidney 1973 aged 69, both at Memorial Park.
Sidney much younger than Gertrude.

Gertrude's death age is correct, and married after Dad dies - possibly caring for him. That all looks feasible, Suzy W.
Where did you find the marriage date, please?
Big thanks!

So it is magic! You are a gem, Suzy W.
Electoral rolls tell me Gertrude and Sidney Turner live at 190 Petrie Str. Father A.W. Emmett leaves this property to Gertrude in his Will. Proof you have found the correct marriage.
Think I can let Ruth & Gertrude Emmett rest now.
I really appreciate your help. Again many thanks.

Hi'
I amy be able to help.
I am the great grandaughter of Arthur William Emmett. My grandfather was Edwin William Emmett.
I was born on the dairy farm in Marshlands Road in 1958.
Ruth Emmett and Gertrude Emmett did run the corner dairy shop. Ruth was a spinster and Gertrude went on to marry after her father died as he didn't approve of her choice of beau.
I have Arthur's will and he was a shrewd and harsh business man.
He did marry twice and I am decended from Jane [nee Dellows] Emmett.
Hope that helps' albeit a bit late.

Kellygang.

Thank you for your reply, Deborah Jane,
You confirmed my thoughts about the Emmett sisters and their wonderful shop on Shirley Rd, Christchurch.
Our little genealogy group, in Brisbane, Australia, choses a topic to research each month. Back when I first posted this query the task was to select a local shopkeeper from our childhood town and research the family. From my previous posts you'll see how much I looked forward to occassionally being allowed to buy my lunch, while attending Shirley Intermediate School ,or selecting an ice cream flavour  - OK, usually hokey pokey - when Mum had a spare 4d in her purse.
Cheers,
Valsgirl

This was very cool to read
This is my family

I've spent some time looking into my Dads side of the family because I dont know much about them.
We actually lived in north parade in 2000. I didn't know family had been there before
