If I have the same 1891 census looked up a couple of the children including William 12 and mothers maiden name is Hughes  :-\

I can't see Dixon/Ruffles children as yet.

Marriage to tie in with Hughes is this one

Mar 1876 Poplar
William John Dixon
Mary Ann Hughes

just to differentiate the couples
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Can anyone find any Dixon/Ruffles children?

I think the couple in 1891 isn't the couple who married in 1871.
It's definitely William John as that name appears on a baptism for one of the children.

Is it me confusing 2 families, apologies if so  :-[

I think the OP (Buzz) needs to go back to something concrete.

Like which individual is definitely "Theirs", tell us and let us work from that.

the only time i see a Dixon family mentioned by BUZZ was in a 1940's marriage in Scotland.

I think you are right Millie, it is the wrong marriage

DIXON, ALMA    mmn HUGHES  1888  M Quarter in POPLAR  Volume 01C  Page 699

I think this is the one
Marriages Mar qtr 1876
Dixon    William John
Hughes    Mary Ann
Poplar    1c   788

Thank you all for your replies and correcting my mistake.

From the 1891 and 1901 census for William J Dixon and Mary Ann I came up with the wrong marriage thank you all again for putting me right.

The Dixon mentioned in Scotland was Joseph Frederick Dixon and Myra's son Joseph Frederick Dixon born 1919 who married Irene Brown McMillan in 1942 in Glasgow
