Frederick Freemantle b c1897 Hampshire
« on: Monday 30 October 17 16:14 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for some birth information about a Frederick Freemantle who was born in Hampshire outside Southampton around 1897.  His father was John Freemantle who was a tea planter but I do not know his mother’s name. Can anyone help me?
Regards

Did Frederick have a middle name?

Have you found him on any census?

Where did you find the information on Fredericks father's occupation of a tea planter?

Apologies for the questions but they could help to identify the correct Frederick.  :)

JJ

Hi JJen
No middle name according to his marriage certificate.
I do not have access to the 1901 and 1911 Censuses for the Hampshire area
Frederick's marriage certificate states that his father was a tea planter which may mean he is out of the UK a lot.
Cheers

Sorry I didn't realise the 1901 and 1911 England censuses were now available on FamilySearch.
I have now looked at all the Frederick Freemantles born in England between 1895 and 1900 in these Censuses. Sadly I cannot find one with a father named John who is a tea planter or anything near it or with a father not present.
Maybe his parents lived abroad and only came back to England for Frederick's birth.
Can you advise me if the Censuses on FamilySearch are complete?

I believe that apart from the 1881 which was transcribed by the Latter Day Saints the other English/Welsh census that are available are on there in conjunction with FindMyPast so they should all be 'complete' though as we all know errors do happen.

I have now looked at loads of John Freemantles and Frederick Freemantles in the 1891, 1901 and 1911 Censuses and can find none in the whole of England working as a tea planter or with a father working as a tea planter respectively. Has anyone got any other ideas where I could look for his parentage and birth records? I know that Frederick was in Jaffa, Palestine during WW2, maybe in the Army or Air Force.
