In the NY Herald from 16 May 1911 on www.fultonhistory.com, there is a death notice for Hamilton Thomas Magrath, fourth son of the late George Ponder Magrath of the city of Dublin.

Good find - the death notice Shelly found for you confirms Hamilton Magrath belonged to your George Ponder Magrath.

George Magrath was naturalized 8 October 1875 - 577 2 avenue NY City.
Witness was William B Magrath - 302 E 28th Street  NY City.

Possible for George on the 1880 census - 2 nd Avenue New York City, New York.

George Magrath   35 Born Ireland. Dry Goods Clerk.
Kate Magrath   35 Born  Ireland.
George Magrath   9 Born NY,
Kate Magrath   7 Born NY.
Frank Magrath   6 Born NY.

There was a death of a Frank Magrath in 1897 - aged 23 years - Certificate Number 19749

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2W6T-4SG

This could be a possible birth of son George Magrath - 22 May 1871 - Manhattan - parents George McG and Catherine Margaret Bird  ??

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:27YN-NWD

Hmmm could Catherine Margaret Bird be Catherine Margaret Burke  ???

Hamilton Thomas - didn't have the middle name or a sure link. Great stuff.
There is a Geo McCausland Magrath m Kate Burke - a good suspect, but can't find  why he should be related to Geo Ponder M. and the other children.
Fantastic new info though. Thank you so much.
