Swedish Photograph ID
« on: Wednesday 01 November 17 01:03 GMT (UK) »
Can someone find the name of this Swedish girl. I believe it to be a relative possibly my grandmother's sister.  I believe it was taken in New York during the 1890s, by Macnabb Portraits.

Welcome to RootsChat!

I am intrigued . . . If you don't know who she is, how do you know she is Swedish?  The photographer is obvious from the photo but . . .   ?    :-\

Those huge sleeves are definitely 1890s.   Isn't she beautiful.   8)

I can't tell you who she is, (We'd need some names and dates for that!) but it is a beautiful scan and I hope you don't mind that I 'despeckled' her a bit.  I know you didn't ask for any restoration so I took a bit of a liberty.

Thank you Wiggy and Carol. My Swedish grandmother left Sweden to live in the US in 1892. I have her photo taken at the same studio.  She was born in Goteborg in 1862 and went To America on the ship, Island, in October 1892 I believe she had a sister called Clara, who arrived in June that same year. There are no names on the photo so I would like to find out who she is. A friend or family?

Hi Rufffles Plok

If you want I can take a look in the Swedish Church Books and see if there is a Clara in the family.
If so, can you give me your Grandmother's place and date of birth with her parents name's please and I'll see what I can find.

Ian
