Another Prittlewell look up please and thank you
« on: Thursday 02 November 17 19:55 GMT (UK) »
Could someone look up this wedding again for me.

John Fuller and Hannah Dowsett.

This was originally found and posted by olleym - "They married in Prittlewell on 03.02.1817, both single and OTP, married by banns.
He signed and she made her mark
A Thomas Dowsett was a witness."

I'm interested in the names and professions (if its recorded) of the fathers of the groom and bride

I'm not sure if John's father was called John or James (I'm hoping it's James)

Many thanks in advance

Jill.

I doubt very much if fathers will be named in a marriage that early. They usually only contain names of the couple and the witnesses.

That would explain why there were so many details on the original lookup but no father's names

When John Surplus Fuller married Mary Ann Waterman 1854 in Kent he names his Father as John, Occp Gardner,

1861 Hannah Fuller is a Gardeners Widow.

Another Son;
Thomas Elwood* Fuller
Birth 27 Jun 1836
Baptism 18 Sep 1836, Prittlewell, Essex
Parents JOHN/HANNAH

F/S has a Marriage;
1781   Great Gransden, Huntingdon, England
Surplus FULLER to Ann ELWOOD
(FreeREG has this as 22 April and has witnesses)

Death Reg Gro Index
FULLER, JOHN age 64
GRO Reference: 1861  M Quarter in ROCHFORD  Volume 04A  Page 113

In my opinion John given what he names his children is the Son of Surplus/Ann.
Although age is a little out.

JOHN Fuller Baptised 2 Feb 1794, St Andrew, Toft, Cambridgeshire
Parents SURPLICE/ANNE
(FreeREG)

Trish :)

Thanks for all your replies. they are always appreciated ;)

I live 20 miles from Little Gransden and spent a glorious, sunny autumn morning looking round the various graveyards associated with the Fullers.

I went to Toft parish church, Kingston and finally Little Gransden.

There were three Fuller headstones in the graveyard. They are all made from sandstone and badly weathered. I've taken photos but will have to edit them in Photoshop to get proper names and dates.

There were also two graves from the early 1900's with the surname Ellwood.

I'm still a little confused over the exact line which my Hannah Fuller came from but it's very obvious that the Little Gransden Fullers are my long-ago ancestors and the only ancestors that I have actual headstones for apart from my own parents.

It's been a fantastic genealogy day ;D
