A possibility for James Barry born 1st dec 1896 Midleton Cork. 1st Service 10th Oct 1917 First ship Vivid 11. Last service 27 Feb 1920 Ship Tiger. War Gratuity Paid. Service No K46445 ROYAL NAVY.
Cannot find anything on this James after 1920

A James BARRY a sailor married in Cobh on March 30 1930 to Louisa MURRAY - LINK
Could it be that he didn't die but a story was told?

Myluck you could be right crossed my mind also "tale" all we know he was still on the scene in 1927. I think at this stage it will remain a mystery name too common
