Hi
I know of no duchy called Berg, it would help if you uploaded the document

Registry offices in Germany were established around about 1874/5
Registry office records are protected by the Germen „Personenstandsgesetz“ Privacy Law

Births 110 Years
Marriages 80 Years
Deaths 30 Years

Here you have to prove you are a direct relative.

After these periods elapse, the records are sent to the respective archives.

Records dated before 1874 can be found either in church or local archives.

Hello,

It would help if you were to provide considerably more information about what you are seeking.

Whose birth records are you seeking?
How do you know the birth was in 1785?
Where was the individual born?

An ever-increasing number of German records are becoming available online on websites such as archion.de and familysearch.org. Other records are being digitalised by various German archives.

Births, marriages and deaths (burials) in the late 18th century would have been recorded in the parish registers (Kirchenbücher). You will need to know the place where the person was born. You may have to arrange look ups in the registers of more than one church, if you cannot easily determine the parish of birth.
