How can a Greek sailor be difficult to find in Mynyddislywn?????
« on: Saturday 04 November 17 13:18 GMT (UK) »
This is a continuation of a thread in "Europe" about the children of Jan Heywegen (Heijwegen) a merchant seaman from Amsterdam. He fathered two children in 1942 and 1944 with Ann James who was living in Butetown, Cardiff. The births appear in an Ancestry search and I have copies of both certificates.

From Amsterdam archives, it seems that Ann James is actually Hannah Livadaros and was born on 2 August 1918 in Mynyddislwyn. Her father was Sivionas Liadaras (Liaderes) who was born in Greece in 1892.

Sivionas was a merchant seaman and the National Archive holds his merchant naval service medal card.

Hannah's mother was Margaret Jane Llewellyn and she married Sivionas Linares in early 1918 (Newport 11a363).

I can't find any no other trace of father nor mother on Ancestry. Perhaps some kind soul with more ferreting skills can unearth more about these people?

Thank you in anticipation of your assistance,

Malcolm

Hi,

I would get the MC for Hannah/Ann parents. Find out hopefully who Margarets father was, to help with your DNA quest. Obtain more info on her if lucky.

Also would look in Mon and Glam Counties, Cardiff/Newport and surrounding area were all central points people moved around.

Ann is on 1839 with birthdate found by Jorose, not much info thou.

Just my thoughts...

Cas

I have now received the marriage certificate for Sivionas Liandaras (aged 24) and Margaret Jane Llewellyn (aged 21) both of 19 George street, Cwmcarn, Abercarn, Monmouthshire.

Margaret's father was David John Llewellyn, a colliery winding engineman

They were married at Newport Registry Office by licence on 14th January 1918.

Later that year, the London Gazette published a final divided of approx. five bob in the pound to the creditors of David John Llewellyn of 19 George Street who must have been made bankrupt some time before then.
