looking for JUDITH THOMAS.CARDIGAN
« on: Wednesday 03 August 05 11:58 BST (UK) »
I am hoping someone can help me.

My relative Bob McMeekin in Canada, is looking for Judith Thomas, who he met 12

years ago. Information I have.

Judith and Tony Thomas. Tony died in Aug.97. my relative kept in contact with

Judith until a parcel he sent was returned in Dec 2001. There was subsequently no

response to letters. The addresses Bob had were Church Cottage, Cater House,

 Noyadd Wilum, Mews Lechryd, Wales.

And Either Tony was buried from Our Lady of

the Taper Church in Cardigan or Joyce was connected with it.

If anyone know's this person , please ask them to get in touch, with Bob

McMeekin, in Canada. or me here.

Many thanks in advance

Have you tried directory enquiries?

I think the spelling is a bit off. Noyadd should possibly be neuadd.

Mews, possibly maes?

I have no idea what Wilum or Lechryd could be. Its not Welsh anyway.

Have you the name of a town?

Hi Shirleyannemarie,

Llechryd most certainly IS Welsh.   It's a very nice little village 3 miles south east of Cardigan.   http://www.genuki.org.uk/ will give you more information.

Noyadd Wilum also exists - the hamlet is named Noyadd Wilym and  lies about 1 mile north west of the aforementioned Llechryd.

I would hazard a guess and say that the address may well read
Church Cottage, Cater House Mews, Noyadd Wilym, Llechryd, Ceredigion, United Kingdom.    Very posh living in Mews isn't it!

I have a cousin living close to Cardigan, I'll ask her about Our Lady of the Taper Church.

Best of luck with your quest.

Cheers Dave

You're right. Sorry, must have had my Anglo hat on then.

Noyadd Wilum also exists - the hamlet is named Noyadd Wilym and  lies about 1 mile north west of the aforementioned Llechryd.

Never heard of it, but from the correct name I assume it has been "Cardied" from Neuadd (G)wilym.

I had another thought, perhaps the name of the house is Charter House or Charterhouse after the school!!

Thanks to all you helped, i've tried directory enquiries, but there are millions (slight exageration) of J. Thomas's in the directory.
And i do not expect to find her at the address given as letters and parcels have been returned from there.

Any way thank you all again.

Hi Shirleyannmarie,

We are halfway in contacting Judith.   My cousin in Cardigan has just e-mailed me to say that her piano teacher was a neighbour of Judith's in Noyadd Wilym and in fact played the organ at the funeral of Judith's husband, Tony, in 1997.   Shortly afterwards Judith's father died.

Around 2001 Judith moved to Narberth, Pembrokeshire and apparently now is in the process of moving to Fishguard, Pembrokeshire.

My cousin is going to see the piano teacher again on Saturday and is willing to pass any contact details to her.   Please let me know contact details.

Cheers Dave
