Ellen SCOTT (married Robert MacKay GREENFIELD), was the daughter of Mary Flora (prob. Florence?) SCOTT and William SCOTT.  Her birth was registered in 1852 (NZ).

Hi - the shop keeper is not the william Scott you are looking for, as i have also chased down this rabbit hole.

At one stage there were two William Scotts living in Willis Street , based on the jury lists, one was a Store keeper who died in 1868 i think and the other was a master mariner (ie capt).

The master mariner William Scott had previously been a tide-waiter (which is a customs officer) who lived in Thordon, he also bought land and a house in Taranaki Place.

Hi...ignore my post about the mariner william scott....he did live in willis street....but if you take away the "capt"  that elizabeth talked about everything else points towards william the shopkeeper being her father....this william had his sister and brother hgere in wellington.

The mariner william scott will mentions a reputed wife and son

I don't know if anybody is still following this thread but I have done a bit of donkey work on Elizabeth.
I've managed to sort out some of the misleading bits and now my best guess is that Elizabeth was born 1837 to William Scott & Elizabeth, who died before 1851. She came to New Zealand with William in 1850/51; in 1851 William married Mary Florence Mitchell.
Full details here:

Look forward to hearing if anybody can build on this
Cheers
